7 principles of the PRINCE2 methodology
To better understand how PRINCE2 works, you need to become familiar with the 7 basic principles, the building blocks of this widely popular methodology:Continued justification of your business – unless there is a justifiable reason to run and manage the project (a defined customer and realistic benefits) the project should be closed.
Learning from experience – PRINCE2 will enable your team to participate in the learning process and continuously upgrade their knowledge.
Clearly defined roles and responsibilities – Each member of the team should know what they should be focusing their attention on and what their team is responsible for.
Management in stages – The project is divided into stages. Each stage is planned, monitored, and controlled with the goal of recording lessons learned and confirming that the project is on the right path.
Manage by exception: Each member of the team has the authority to manage and coordinate the project in a controlled environment. The project manager is responsible for delegating tasks, controlling the budget, cost, and meeting deadlines. If certain, potentially harmful issues arise, the project board will enter the game and determine the next steps.
Focusing on the quality of products – teams constantly check the product definition, delivery and quality requirements.
Each project is unique and the approach is adapted to suit their needs. The PRINCE2 method is tailored for each project (environment size, complexity, importance, capacity, etc.
